Housing Network
About Us
Housing Network provides affordable rental housing with a difference for lower income people.
Neither public housing nor private market rental, Housing Network offers a full range of housing at below market rents with long term security of tenure. Our housing has all the attributes of private rental, up to date well maintained properties but at lower rent to market rates with long term leases and access to many support and advisory services through associated agencies.
Housing Network provides housing in the Hume Region of Victoria which extends from Wodonga to Wallan and from Myrtleford to Shepparton. Housing Network is also able to provide housing in other parts of Victoria. (Link to ‘Housing Portfolio’ below)
Eligibility
In general terms, people applying for housing with Housing Network will have income and assets such that they would be eligible for Commonwealth Rent Assistance or Public Housing in Victoria. Some people may be looking for the opportunity to pay a reduced rent and save more towards the purchase of their own home or they may currently be experiencing housing stress due to a high private rent or housing that does not cater for the needs of their family. In addition, they will be people who have established links to employment, family, and other networks in the cities and towns in which our housing is located.
Policy Overview
All housing is managed under the Residential Tenancies Act (1997) of Victoria
Tenants are required to provide a Bond equivalent to four weeks rent which is lodged with the Residential Tenancies Bond Authority
Housing Network Rents are calculated at discounts on market rents ranging from 10% to 30% depending upon the applicant’s financial position.
A minimum lease of twelve months is available. Two weeks rent in advance is required on the signing of a tenancy agreement.
Housing applications are held on a database and housing allocated based on the best match of the applicant, their household and the properties available in the location of their preference.
Information collected in the process of making housing applications and completing tenancy agreements will be handled by Housing Network in accordance with confidentiality and privacy legislation and policies of the organisation.
Release of any information to other agencies or authorities will only be done with the written consent of the applicant / tenant.
Details of all policies are available via the attached link. (Link to detailed policies here)
